Y Malayalam Movie
Set in a street, the events in "Y" begin and end in one night. The plot is engaging enough to whip up the curiosity like the earlier films of director Sunil Ibrahim. As an exponent of unexpected twists, he is able to keep a consistency in the thriller, which is simple but effective as a whole.
The film follows the mystery behind an abduction in a street and the suspicion leads to a residential building at a shopping complex. Most of the actors in the movie are novice except Alancier, the police officer.
Dheeraj Denny (Arun) and Sruthi Susan Sam (Teena) appear in pivotal roles. Sunil diligently coalesces the events of that night to unveil the suspense, a formula that he has effectively tested in his flicks.
While the effort of entwining the proceedings is laudable, the logic behind the suspense might be a relevant question. Notably, the movie is pulsating with energy that staves off monotony significantly. A well-trimmed screenplay and realistic performances are major advantages of the film. However, the negligence by the writer-director in narrating usual investigation procedures in such a case is hard to digest, especially when he is fussy about other areas.
Jayesh Mohan's cinematography enhances the theme though the whole action is confined to a street.
